New US Energy Program for Climate Solution, IEA and Norwegian Energy Study Concludes: Revolutionary New Energy Technologies Must Be Supported Now

US Department of Energy (DOE) is accepting concept papers for New Energy Technology projects that disrupt the status quo. The revolutionary new $400 million DOE program under ARPA-E might trigger the beginning of the end of the threats posed by climate change and energy security. DOE is seeking "out of the box" transformational new energy technologies with a real power to phase out any CO2 emitters like Coal. Oil, Gas as well as traditional uneconomical Renewables. The new Norwegian Energy Study provide support to the ARPA-E Project and here presents Reports & Services on related transformational energy technologies available to the energy industry and Governments.

Droebak, Norway (PRWEB) May 22, 2009 -- This might be the worlds first program that has the potential to initiate new energy technologies that will be real competitors to coal, oil & gas and on the way put large sections of uneconomic, decentralised, traditional renewable energy industry, like wind, solar, biofuel out of business. Investors in the energy sector sit up and listen!

New US Energy Program for Climate Solution, IEA and Norwegian Energy Study Concludes: Revolutionary New Energy Technologies Must Be Supported Now

US Department of Energy (DOE) is seeking New Energy Technologies that “disrupt the status quo”. The new $400 million DOE program, running under Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E)might trigger the beginning of the end of the threats posed by climate change and energy security. The Norwegian Energy Study provide Reports & Services on
related transformational energy technologies preparing one to take the right actions in the emerging rapidly changing world of New Energy.

A new Norwegian Energy Technology Study support the important new revolutionary US Research & Development (R&D) program through a detailed study of the new transformational energy technologies and the new renewable energy sources that will form many of the applicants to this unique project. The results from the Norwegian Energy Technology Study are here available as “Reports & Services” through the consultancy company Enerley.com addressing many these revolutionary new transformational energy technologies that ARPA-E now will support.

President Barack Obama recently announced the launch of the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) as part of a sweeping announcement about federal investment in research, development and science education. ARPA-E is a new DOE organization modelled after the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the defence agency that gave us the Internet, Stealth Technology, the Global Positioning System (GPS), and many other technological breakthroughs.

"The nation that leads the world in creating new energy sources will be the nation that leads the 21st century global economy," – US President Obama

Transformational energy technologies are by definition technologies that disrupt the status quo. They are not merely better than current technologies, they are significantly better.

ARPA-E holds great promise for solving the energy & climate crises
Starting this month and running until June 2, the Department of Energy (DOE), via ARPA-E, is accepting concept papers for energy R&D projects that “disrupt the status quo”. The type of new revolutionary energy technologies DOE is targeting and will support through the new $400 million program is part of the Energy Department’s new emphasis on breakthrough technologies. The program is offering up to $20 million assistance to make moonshots reality. ARPA-E specifically support clean energy technologies that can compete and phase out oil & gas and put large sections of uneconomic traditional renewable energy industry like wind, solar and biofuel out of business. Investors in the energy sector “sit up and listen!"

Consistent with ARPA-E's mission to advance U.S. dominance in clean energy innovation, submissions are welcome from any capable research and development entity, including for-profit entities, academic institutions, research foundations, not-for-profit entities, collaborations and consortia, provided that the lead organization is a U.S. entity and a minimum of 90% of the work will be performed on U.S. soil.Governments, institutions and companies in other countries now need to take similar actions and start focusing on transformational energy technologies as “The New Renewables” instead of the old traditional uneconomical, renewables like windmills, solar cells and biofuel.

“Nobel-level” Transformational Energy Technologies to Save the Climate
ARPA-E is created specifically to foster R&D of transformational energy-related technologies.

- “The Nation needs transformational energy-related technologies to overcome the threats posed by climate change and energy security, arising from its reliance on traditional uses of fossil fuels and the dominant use of oil in transportation,” state DOE in their ARAP-E Program

US Energy Secretary Dr. Steven Chu, with Nobel Prize in Physics from 1997, has repeatedly said that the US needs “Nobel-level” breakthroughs in energy technology in order to tackle the twin challenges of energy security and climate change. Energy Secretary Chu is a vocal advocate for more research into alternative energy and nuclear power, arguing that a shift away from fossil fuels is essential to combat global warming.

New Revolutionary Energy Technologies to Compete with Oil & Gas
This is what the new fast running ARPA-E program is to kick-start. The program only focus on new efficient and powerful energy technologies that neither are traditional oil & gas nor slight changes to traditional renewables. Energy technologies forming minor improvements to traditional renewables like wind and solar need not apply: - “We are not looking for incremental progress on current technologies”, says DOE.

Investments in Traditional Wind, Solar, Biofuel now more risky
The program support research, development and marked introduction of new clean revolutionary energy technologies. These are a number of different new breakthrough energy technologies that even people working in the traditional oil, renewable and energy investment industry have not heard about before. None of the major future-looking energy-scenario papers developed for the Governments of UK, Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Germany, that are looking 20 – 30 year ahead, have these transformational energy-related technologies included that now the US Government is kick-starting in their 36 month program.

Traditional energy industries of all categories might now be seeing totally unexpected competition. Investment in any old renewable energy such as wind, solar and biofuel project are now high risk in a renew sense of the word.

Norwegian Study focus on the Transformational Energy Technologies
A Norwegian Study of the “New Renewables”, the transformational energy technologies, has now been performed by Enerley.com based on long-term monitoring, study and research of these revolutionary clean energy technologies in many countries. The Norwegian Energy Study, that is privately funded, came to the same conclusion that also is the basis for the $400 million US program: Target, invest in and support the emerging revolutionary new energy technologies if real progress is to be gained concerning threats posed by climate change and energy security.

Qualifying Technologies
ARPA-E is dedicated to funding research into energy technology that has the potential to be truly transformational. Transformational energy technology is expected to shift the current energy paradigm substantially, not incrementally. To be funded, a technology must have the potential to radically enhance the energy security of the United States by developing technologies that:

* Reduce the need to import energy from foreign sources
* Reduce energy-related emissions, including greenhouse gases
* Improve energy efficiency across the economy
* Ensure that the United States maintains a technological lead in developing and deploying advanced energy technologies

The applications to the program will come in different stages, some as only as early stage concepts, others as private or company R&D projects, but again others will be working prototypes and technology ready to be taken over by US industry to be made ready for introduction to the world wide energy marked.
